Experts,

I am working as Design Engineer for FEED of a Gas Processing Facility. I have a question regarding the type of actuator for Blowdown Valves in various sections of the plant. the function of Blowdown Valve is to open and blowdown an isolated section of the plant during emergency to prevent catastrophic failure due to overpressurization.

A blowdown valve is full bore valve without any control.

I am assuming the Blowdown Valve is going to be have a "double acting actuator" and will use Instrument Air to open and close the valve. It will be  a Fail Open valve fitted with an Instrument Air Bottle for air supply during IA failure.

are my assumptions inline with industry practise?

thanks and regards,

B-2

B-2,

Additional characteristics: It is ball valve with minimum size of 2" and should be tight shut off (TSO)...
