Hello there,

I am trying to use an appropriate fluid package in Hysys 7.3. The components are ortho- Xylene,Air, Phthalic Anhydride, maleic anhydride, water, carbon dioxide. When trying to use PR or Sour PR, it was showing that it does not accept Phthalic anhydride. Kindly, Help me in this regard.

P.S. Also, a simulation of the product process will of great help for me too.

Regards,

Ahmed Ashiq

May be you can find simulation of PA process in PRO II example file but not sure. In my opinion main problem of simulation in PA process is how to model the fix bed of PA reactor and you did't know about selectivity and yield that depending on catalyst performance including switch condenser of PA oxidation unit.

May be this will work for you || Use SRK  for the VLE and enthalpy options in the thermodynamic package for all the units in this process. For heat exchangers with multiple zones, it would be better,if you simulate each zone with a separate heat exchanger. For the switch condensers, use a component separator, and then calculate the heat duty from the inlet and outlet streams.
