If I have the characteristic curve of a pump at a given RPM and also the pressure drop vs velocity curve of the pipe, how do i find out the flow rate?

HI,

Would you upload the curves? Usually the flowrate should be mentioned in the characteristics curves for a fixed RPM (a sample sketch is attached).

With the velocity and pipe size manually the approximate flowrate can be calculated also.

KirtiNemani ,

Consider reading this paper (about centrifugal pump)

The intersection between Pump curve and system curve will be the answer .

note : a lot of documents are available in this forum , use  the search engine .

hope this helps

KirtiNemani:

As usual, Breizh has furnished you with some excellent advice and material.  Unfortunately, the submitted article deals only with the Performance Curve (not characteristic curve) of a centrifugal pump and doesn't mention the development of a system curve for your application and how it can be superimposed on the Performance Curve.

If you don't know how to develop a system curve and how to use it, let us know and the forum members can help you on that subject - which is of great importance when dealing with centrifugal pumps.
