Hi!

I have a final year project titled Production of Biogas by Organic Waste.Project is research and practical based.I faced some difficulties in project so, i need help.

 

Problems:

 

1.How to find the kinetics of biogas?

2.I need initial data for volatile solids ,moisture content,fixed solid and total solid of cow dung.

3.How to determine volume of bioigester from kinetics?

4.I need viscosity and density of cow dung,muncipal waste and fruit waste.

Biogas is produced by fermentation of fats, proteïns and carbohydrates in the dung. It is not a chemical reaction, but involves enzymes as fermentation is done by microorganisms.

 

I suspect that companies designing and building these fermentors base their sizing methods on experience (from experiments and operating units). Depending on the dry solids content (or even better: fats, proteïns and carbohydrates content) and source of the dung or waste they estimate how much residence time in the fermentor is required to have an economical design and size the fermentor accordingly. I don't think they use kinetics for that. Probably only academics, who don't know what they are doing, think they should.

 

Properties of dung and other waste depend very much on dry solids contents, which obviously depends on water content, which obviously depends on the producer of the waste stream.
