In my company we are trying to equip an ethoxilation Pilot Plant with a new vacuum system, the vacuum is used to eliminate water from the material to be ethoxylated and to eliminate the unreacted ethylen oxide when the process is complete (the target value for ethylene oxide in the material is less than 2 ppm). At the present time, we get the vacuum from an ejector system and we are looking for other options, we are considering a screw vacuum pump, has anyone of you worked with this kind of pumps and ethylene oxide? Is this a good option or other vacuum systems are better option for this aplication?

Probably good to tell us the Pressure you are expecting with the new technology and the reason why you want to change . Among other technology you may also consider liquid ring vacuum pump if suitable (HSE ?)

From cheap to expensive : steam ejector ,liquid ring vacuum pump , dry vacuum pump ( screw type).

So far the vacuum has been taken from a productive plant but the pilot tests sometimes are interrupted or delayed because the use of vacuum in production has priority, so we are trying to get a new system to have more flexibility and not depend on the production program to perform our tests. The pressure we are looking for is at least 21 inHg.
