Hi,
My collegues and me are sizing a reactive distillation column for ETBE production for a university project. Our column has 14 reactive stages in a reactive distillation column. We are using Amberlyst-15 as a catalyst and we are wondering how much catalyst would we need per stage of column (or how to calculate it). ETBE is produced from the reaction of IB (isobutylene) with EtOH and water, TBA and TMP1, TMP2 are side products of the reaction. The height of each stage is 0.8 m.
Thank you very much :-)

I believe that the catalyst used commercially is deposited on structured packing. Koch is one company that supplies the material. You probably should just assume something and proceed.
