Hv-60 Spray Nozzles

Dear all, 

 

I have a small question regarding spray nozzles HV-60. I am working on fire water demand calculations for an offshore platform. I am busy simulating the case (together with nozzles) in fluidflow software. In fluidflow, I have to add the minimum and maximum operating pressure of the nozzle. 

 

In the HV-60 nozzle vendor document, the unit of min. and max. operating pressure is given as BAR. However, my colleagues at office says, it must be bar(g) instead of bar.

 

I would like to know from you guys based on your experience if the pressure has to be in bar or barg?

 

I have already wrote an email to the vendor but of course waiting for reply. And meanwhile I thought to ask you guys based on your experience.

bara means bar absolute

barg means bar gage

 

bar means whatever the publisher intends it to be. It does not automatically mean bara.

 

I don't know what brochure you are looking at, but I am sure that for those spray nozzles bar means barg, because what matters is the pressure difference (deltaP) over the spray nozzle, and that deltaP is equal to the overpressure, which is the gage pressure.

 

Flow through a spray nozzle is proportional to the square root of the deltaP.
