I am looking for the temperature rise on the ground beneath the storage tank bottom storing asphalt and vacuum residue at a storage temperature of 225 Dec.
The tanks are located on the circular ring type concrete foundation and beneath the bottom plate of tank, the concrete annular space isfilled with sand.
For proper design my civil team is looking for the temperature rise in the sand below the tank bottom plate.
Can anybody share the calculations done on this before...

shahid780812,
You can conservatively suppose the temperature rise to be an amount would cause the ground beneath the tank reaches to 225 C, i.e. same as the storage temperature...because calculation of actual temperature rise cannot be so simple...
Now, how would your civil team apply this temperature in relevant civil design?
