Good Day!

I am currently a student from the Philippines studying BS Chemical Engineering. However, I have always been intrigued and interested in studying abroad. Because of the lack of funds I am currently studying in one of the great schools in the Philippines but I can't let go of the desire to reach new heights. Can someone give me an advice what I should do to study my masters abroad? Cause one of my lifelong dreams is to be able to join the world's center of engineering. Even though a lot of people say that you can do great things in small ways here in the Philippines. I may have become ambitious and wanted to do more. Additionally, my main problem is that the Philippines just implemented K-12 2 years ago and because of this I wasn't in the program I am well aware that after I graduate I won't fit in the curriculum of countries abroad.

It is not necessary that you should study abroad to become a good engineer. Remember diamonds are nothing but Carbon. Pearls are nothing but Water. But there is astronomical difference in the values. You can also become a diamond or pearl in your own place.

I've always believed diamonds can be polished even in dungeons, and crude stones may remain crude even in place of craftsman. But I don't know if its a desire for knowledge, a desire for colleagues, a desire for being in company of other professionals that don't have the mindset of having higher income as their main reason for taking up the course (This is really common in the Philippines, hearing that they took up Chemical Engineering for the simple fact that it had higher average income than other courses), or a desire for pride that I want to study abroad.

All I know is right now, my desire to go abroad and study is something that is burning inside me and I think that if I'm not able to reach my goal it would scorch me.

Dear Mr Sarmiento,

Yes. Diamonds need polishing to get a higher value. But, first a crude diamond should be obtained. Become a diamond. There are many  universities in USA, Canada, Australia, Russia and other countries which take students from other countries for higher studies. Some times, your employer himself will sponsor your higher studies, if you do well in your degree and work. You can get a scholarship also. You can go on your own also if you can afford. Just type “universities” in the search box of Google and enter, if you need to know about the universities those offer courses.

Wish you all the best
