ASME BPE (2009) section SD-4.7.1 (e) states
(e) Vessels that are to handle above 176°F (80°C) [e.g.,SIP, hot water-for-injection (WFI), hot U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) waters, and hot CIP solutions] should be designed for full vacuum service.
I have an API 650 tank that needs cleaning in place which sprays 95degC water and immediately rinses with 20degC water. I have no way to calculate the immediate shrinkage effect (inbreathing effect) with this kind of scenario. The tank is open vent with 2" nozzle (HOLD).
Contrary to ASME BPE code I mentioned above, API 650 tank cannot be designed FV.
Does anyone designed CIP of API 650 tank here? Is this possible? Any solutions would be appreciated.
