Dear All,

A PVSV is protecting a low pressure storage tank set at 0.1 barg and vendor has offered model with 10% over

pressure.

This PVSV is venting to atmosphere through a vent pipe of length about 5 m.

We are considering 10% back pressure over PVSV set pressure for vent outlet pipe sizing.

Back pressure is calculated at relieving capacity of PVSV.

Calculation suggests an expander is required to match PVSV outlet nozzle size and line size.

Is there any issue until total pressure loss in outlet vent pipe is within 10% of PVSV set pressure.

Thanks.

Regards.

chem2013,

If 1.1*0.1=0.11 barg as relieving pressure of PVSV is lower than (or equal to) tank design pressure, appears there would be no issue regarding high pressure build up inside the tank due to back pressure...
