Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if you can help me figure out what process is involved in the attached diagram used at a refinery to recycle oil lubricants.

It looks like a distillation packed column, however because of the “X” in the top section it makes me think it could actually be a stripper/absorber - but I could be wrong.

I don’t have the necessary site experience so use may recognise this process better than me. I know the bottom has a reboiler, however I am not sure if it using steam to reheat the bottoms. So looks like the feed from the bottom get pumped to the heater then not quite sure what the other horizontal column is.. maybe it’s more of the actual shape of the pipe including any insulation before it re-enters the column in the middle section??

This is the process diagram below of what happens at the refinery so I was trying to think where the process would fit in with the steps below and I was thinking either in the Defueling or Distillate treatment stage.

If anybody could help me it would be greatly appreciated.
