Dear peers,

I am working on a steam vent line. During startup, we need vent steam @90 psig, 300,000 lb/hr. I am debating with myself if I really need a silencer for this low pressure steam. I appreciate your comments if there is pressure criterion or guideline , that above which, a silencer is needed.  thanks

William

Whoever provided the vent valve should be able to help you. I would try them first.

William,

300,000 lb/h is an important flow, almost 140 T/h, I think one of your principal problems will be the noise.

I work in a small plant with 10 T/h (with maximum 150 psig) and we have a silencer by design, principally for startup the plant and the emergency situations.

I send information related.

Napo.
