Dear Forums members,

Recently, I was involved in a Residue Hydrotreating Unit Project.

and I found out that angle type of control valves are applied in a high pressure sections such as 2500 # and 1500 # system.

Here are my questions.

1. Why do we need to use angle type of control valves in a high pressure sections?

2. For those valves, there is a requirement like "min. X dia. meter straight run without fitting".

why is this requriement necessary? is it because of erroson? or is there any other reasons?

regading fittings, can't we use any reducers at all or reducers can be allowed to use?

3. Lastly, what about inlet line of those control valves? no need to apply min dia meter requirement?

Thanks in advance

Down stream of control valve the pressure (and density) is lower and velocities higher.  Therefore more prone to erosion than the inlet side. I think it could worthwhile you contacting the vendor/manufacturer of the valves for their explanation of their installation guidelines and criteria and recommendations.
