Dear all,
We have a nitrogen deoxygenation bed in our polypropylene project. It removes traces of oxygen from the nitrogen gas, which is used in the plant for regeneration, for resin purging and other applications.
The bed contains a copper based adsorbent which reacts with oxygen in the gas stream and thus deoxidises the nitrogen gas.
The deoxo bed operates at around 7 barg during normal operation. It requires periodic regeneration, prior to which the vessel bed is depressurised by venting it to the atmosphere.
In order to control (limit) the depressurisation rate, we are planning to install a restriction orifice in the depressurisation line. As per the process datasheet provided by the licensor, the depressurisation rate should be no more than 1.758 kg/sqcm/min. Other process data such as the maximum mass flow, temperature, density, viscosity, isentropic factor are also available. Only the pressure drop across the RO is not known.
How do we calculate the diameter of the orifice?
