I'mw ondering if anyone could explain why a horizontal separator is choosen when we have more more liquid flow rate and vertical separator for more vapor flow rate ?

It's usually a matter of cost. You can compare the different options with software at my site. Just Google my name. For the horizontal orientation you must use the example you can access from the Home Page.
