Hi,

I am simulating existing cyclones of one of my projects to understand their efficiency and performance.

Their inlet section is circular instead of rectangular shape and all the texts that I have studied explain the calculation of cyclones based on rectangular inlet, but not circular one.

I want to know if there are some equations for calculating the cyclone parameters and efficiency based on circular inlet.

OR

If there is not exist such equations, how can I convert the circular inlet section to rectangular one in order to use the conventional equations of cyclone ( how to obtain the length and width of the equal rectangle)?

So, You are kindly requested to give me the brief useful information.

Hi Mahdi ,

Consider the resource above . You may also consider Perry Chemical engineers Handbook .

Good luck

Hi friends,

I am looking for a paper on cyclone calculation titled " new design approach boosts cyclone efficiency" by W.H.Koch and W. Litch., 1977.

I appreciate someone who has and let me have this article.

my email address: mahdi80@gmail.com

Thanks in advance

Hi Breizh,

Thank you for useful link including precious calculating programs.

However, I am looking for the paper in which emprical equations and the detailed method is described. The excel spread sheet  that you addressed happens to follow up the method of efficiency calculation that I want.

I need the paper to set a program by myself and due to the complexity of your cited spread sheet, I cannot line up and extract the governing equations and the relationship between parameters.

I appreciate your kindly support.

Mahdi
