I have a vaporizer: LNG to NG

Tube side is the process side. There are two ESD valves at the inlet and outlet of tube side to block the evaporator.

We need to size the relief valve installed at the outlet line for the situation when the HX is blocked.

How to do that exactly?  Thumb of rules?

Thanks.

August,

The PSV set pressure would be the tube side design pressure...

The relief load can be estimated based on the method mentioned in API 521 for fire case but with heat source of heating fluid instead fire...

But you must also explore other scenarios. Such as blocked outlet. And route the discharge to a system that will accept LNG at -150 C.

What kind of heat exchanger is it?  Ambient air vaporiser?
