HELLO!

WHAT R THE STANDARDS GOVERNING THE STORAGE TEMPERATURES OF REFINED PETROLEUM PRODUCTS LIKE NAPTHA,JP-I, HSD,PMG,JBO ETC.OR WAT R THE TEMPERATURES WHICH SHOULD BE MANTAINED IN THE TANKS FOR THE STORAGE OF REFINED PETROLEUM PRODUCTS.ANY HELP IN THIS REGARD WOULD B HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

Binzee:

I know of no "standards" for storage temperatures of refined (or un-refined) Hydrocarbons or their mixtures. I've produced and stored Crude Petroleum at temperatures as high as 180 oF and stored Natural Gas and Propylene at cryogenic temperatures. I never followed a standard temperature.

Storing hydrocarbon liquids is like storing any other liquid: you should do it safely and in a sound, secure manner. You don't tell us what provokes your question or what is your intent, so I am not free to comment any further for lack of information.

(As an aside, could you please make an effort to write in clear, definitive English so that you can be better understood? The use of the letter "R" instead of the proper word, "are" is not only confusing and distracting but it also leads to erroneous interpretations of your writings - making it harder for the reader when it should have the opposite effect.)

Hello Binzee,

Several things you should keep on mind are:

1. Product flash point
2. Product self-ignition temperature
3. Vapor pressure of your product at storage conditions (i.e. = purity of your C2s, C3s, LPG etc.)

As Mr. Montemayor said, I think there are no standards regarding the petroleum products storage temperatures. In our refinery, for example, we follow a good working practice to keep JP-1 and diesel temperatures some 20-30C below their flash points, and produce light naphtha which has a vapor pressure 0.1bar lower than the one being measured at 38C.

when you get different refined products in the refinery like JP-I,JP-8,HIGH SPEED DIESEL,JUTE BATCHING OIL ,PREMIER MOTOR GASOLINE,they are stored in tanks at certain temperatures which are considered safe,my question is how do we either calculate or make certain basis for taking those storage temperatures
