I am working on hazard area classification for a tank farm.

Is diesel storage tanks categorized hazard area?

Diesel has flash point 56 C~96 C which is higher than maximum environment temperature 45C.

Both API and IEC indicate that diesel is not necessary to be classified in hazard area. However, as diesel is flammable, we feel not safe to classify diesel in the non-atex zone.

Someone has experience with  diesel tank farm?
