Hi,

I want to know what is diff between steam turbine or gas turbine driven compressor and expander driven compressor ? What is the operation of expander. In my case, Expander uses tail gas as its inlet gas. Expander energy will be given to compressor, pressure control in expander is done by inlet line to expander pressure control and also controls some valve on expander. Is it inlet guide vanes of expander? My understanding is that Pressure control by diverting inlet flow to discharge of expander is  for finer control and control of IGV of expander is for coarse control . Please elaborate on this topic .
