Hello,

I am working on a project involving Slop Oil and Bad Oil. There aren't any recoverable hydrocarbons in the streams. What i am looking for is come direction for some resources and information on different methods used to treat this type of fluid.

Thanks

Are your Slop Oil and Bad Oil streams derived in a petroleum refinery? If so, please tell us their source within the refinery ... and give us whatever information you have on their composition.

In most refineries, slop oil (after water removal) is usually blended into the refinery's heavy fuel oil product.

No,

The slop oil is coming from an offshore platform and is currently being sent to Lucula Pits on shore...
The stream comtains waste such as Lubricating Oils, Spent Chemicals, Pit Skimmings, Tank Sludge, Paraffin, oil-contaminated soil, hydrocarbon contaminated water, and sand from oil and gas exploration and production.

The current treatment methods that are being looked into are: Conventional Batch Treatment, Centrifugal Separation and Treatment, Slurry Fracture Injection, Bio-Remediation, and Waste Oil Incineration.

The total of all the streams will be about 25% sand/soil, 48% water, 27% oil.

Any thoughts will be appreciated, also if anyone knows of any information i can read on the treatment of slop oil will also be greatly apprecited. blink.gif
