In our steam methane reformer,we are adjusting the upstream valve of the total process steam flow control valve to control the total process steam flow whenever the load changes by more than 3-4 %.
Is this operation normal?
Actually quick opening type plug is used in the total process steam control valve. As quick opening type plug allows large amount of flow with very less opening, this could be one of the reason for the adjustment. Is this the real cause?
Does anyone using any other type of plug i.e.linear or equal percentage type in the total process steam control valve?
Or
Is there any other possible problem with our existing control valve?
