Hello.

I have to evaluate cost of production of cold using to chilling of the charge gas on Steam Cracker Plant, but I have no idea how to start with this. Could anyone give me some advice?

just to propose a starting direction...

in order to obtain cold you may need to install a refrigeration cycle.

it involves a CAPEX (investment costs, in $) and some OPEX (operating expenses, in $/y).

the plant life will be some years, L.

your cost will be (CAPEX/L+OPEX), $/y

under CAPEX or OPEX covers you have to put all the specific costing items relevant to your refrigeration production.

with more specific project info, you would obtain more specific answers...

good luck!

Thanks for reply. I need to evaluate costs on existing plant. Generally I have to know how much money we loose due to inefficient insulation on ethylene spliter. In attachment you can find a simply sketch. It is not a problem to determine losses of "heat" from this splitter but I do not know how calculate it in cash

it's a very confusing description of your scope...

maybe the configuration of your splitter is in accordance to the attached picture...

what about your cold utility?

Chilling in a Ethylene cracker is provided by Ethylene refrigeration system and propylene refrigeration system.

1) find out from the fuel gas/BFW cost for steam production in furnaces and boilers.

2) Then use steam consumption to Ethylene refrigeration system and propylene refrigeration system to calculate the cost of chilling.

3) Check for the electrical consumption numbers of the pumps in these systems.

Your cost may be much greater if your production is limited by refrigeration capacity.
