Gents,

As part of the PHA a action was generated to provide the gas detectors in dyke for storage tanks ( MTBE, Methanol).

The question is are there any standards available to decide what type, How many , in which direction gas detectors are to installed.

Appreciate your support and thanks in advance.

Hi.

You should consider to contact companies like Draeger or Oldham and others through their website . You may found good info through insurance company looking after your facility or local safety bureau .

In China where I'm working currently we are using local brand sensors  for methanol leak detection in the tanks yard and workshop.

The important point is about regular calibration with proper standards .

Hope this is helping you.

Hi,

The modern method of placing fire and gas detectors is to generate contours or maps for fire exposure and / or gas leaks for a specific area or unit. This requires a fire and gas mapping study using sophisticated mapping tools such as Detect3D.

Here is a link for Detect3D:

There are specialist companies who provide F&G mapping studies. You can google these specialized companies involved in various process safety management services including F&G mapping. In India one such company is “Chola MS Risk”.

Regards,
Ankur.
