Dear All

I want to make a small lab reactor with such a condition :

Heat source: Microwave oven.
Temperature: 300 degree centigrade.
Internal Pressure: 50 bar.

So I need some strong and transparent material for reactor wall.
Glass is transparent but not strong.Plexiglas is transparent and strong but has small melting temperature. (Under 300 degree centigrade)
Can anyone help?

Regards
Ebrahim

Ebrahim,

Borosilicate glasses with trade names like Pyrex, Bomex, Kimex, etc. or pure silica, fused quartz, glass can be used for transparent, microwave-heated glass reactors. But you must chck the wave lengths (or frequency) of the microwaves to which the glass selected is really "transparent" or not. Refer to the glass manufacturer for detail.
