Hi all,

I have a steam turbine driven centrifugal compressor.

I want to increase the compressor throughput as per plant requirement.

Increase in compressor flow is estimated by limiting the maximum RPM.

My query is basically, how to estimate power increase in steam turbine.

Will steam turbine be able to provide that much increase in power?

Just by doing Enthalpy balance it looks steam turbine can generate required compressor power.

I want to know, how can maximum power of turbine be estimated and what are the major limitations in increasing the power of turbine?

If you have performance curves for the turbine, you will find your answer there. If not, you need to contact the manufacturer for that information.

If the turbine and compressor is already there, why not just test on site?

Maybe it might turn out that the limitation has nothing to do with enthalpy and maybe just high vibration, etc..

Just a thought... Without analyzing more info, we are all shooting in the dark.
