Dear all,

I need help please.

Our contractor has proposed to use explosion bonded cladding for vessel plate with thickness (>50mm) instead the specified Weld overlay or roll bonded clad.

He mentioned that this is based on the feedback received from various vessel vendors

Your advise is very valuable.

Best Regards

A.Baghdadi

The bond strength between the parent metal and clad metal is weak compared with roll bonded. We have to ensure the bond strength by doing tests like bond continuity, bond shear strength, and tensile strength.
