hi everybody,

i was asked to design oilfield indirect heater with duty 8.5 MMBTU/hr in order to bid in favor of oil company, the problem is the coil i had calculated is very big, here under the specs of heater and i will attach the calculation sheet i made to calculate the coil area.

water bath temp. = 85 C

oil inlet temp. = 25 C

oil outlet temp. = 60 C

assumed coil diameter = 4"

Duty = 8.5 MMBTU/hr

please check the calculations and see what is wrong

You have not attached your calculations.   Try again.

Have you read and studied the design literature I prepared and submitted on this topic?  Go to:

There are OEM's that specialise in the design and manufacture of these WBH's.  I work at one of them.  So another option for you is to state which country your end user is located in the world so that someone can advise a reasonably closeby OEM that you could contact.

Your duty of 8.5 Million BTU/h converts to 2.5MW which is a medium to large size.
