Hi all
There is a biogas stream containing 53% Methane, 44% CO2 and 3% H2S on v/v dry basis. The amount is 7500 NM3/hr at ambient temperature and about 0.5 bar,g.
Does someone has a economical way of removing H2S to the level of 100 ppm or so.
Thanks in advance.
Samir

The obvious method is to have a compression step followed by a Gas Sweeting Unit based on absorption of H2S as well as CO2 by an amine solution. See for example:http://www.simtronics.com/catalog/spm/spm3100.htm

If only hydrogen sulfide is to be removed, a solution of potassium bicarbonate can be effective. Since hydrogen sulfide is low, solid absorbents like hydrated ferric oxide can also be tried. You may try Puraspec absorbents/adsorbents. (www.jmcatalysts.com)

Thanks dear for your suggestion. However, I want to selectively remove only H2S and then recover CO2 by Amine process. As H2S and CO2 are equally adsorbed by MEA, I want to get rid of H2S before taking the gas stream to MEA process.
