We are currently operating a distillation plant without reflux drum.

But off late, we are unable to achieve the purity within desired time; ultimately resulting in partial charring of material.

We then decided to provide a pre-heated reflux back into the column. For this we need to design a reflux drum. Can any one suggest the best idea?

System specification:

Column lenght: 27 Feet

Column ID: 12"

Column internal: Paul Rings

Kettle: 2 KL Limpet coil reactor.

Vacuum: Double Stage Water ring vacuum pump, with booster.

hi,

It's difficult to understand what you want to achieve . what is the current situation ? one single stage ?

is it a batch process , a continuous process ? any PFD or PID available?

what is the material , what are the impurities ?

what do you expect ?

what do you mean by pre heat reflux ?  do you have a total condenser or a partial condenser ?

thanks to share more information to get meaningful answers.

note : packing should be Pall rings.

good luck
