Dear All expert

I know that we send steam to flare in order to suck more air for complete combustion.

Are there other reason for send steam to flare?

Your knowledge sharing is my appreciated.

I have seen steam being sent to flare for following purposes:

  • As pointed out by you and Fallah for smokeless combustion
  • Steam injection to flare tip to avoid burn back
  • low molecular weight flaring case

For further details you can refer API 537 or ISO 25457:2008.
