Hello,

We are currently facing an issue of pressure regulator body pin hole. It has happened twice in two regulators installed on same line.

Below are the specifications:

Line size: 1"

Regulator size: 1"

Failure: 48 hours into operation.

Installed on: Lean Amine Surge Tank vent line

Operating pressure: 10 psig

Operating temperature: 180-240 F

Body material: Aluminium

FLowing medium: Steam with traces of amine / CO2

Other observations: Noise while operation of the regulator, erosion found in internals.

Is it possible that aluminium is not compatible with the flowing medium described above? The other available body material is cast iron but the valve size is 2". So before suggesting size change (due to other observations) I want to be sure that it is material issue and sizing issue both or not. The failure of the body within 48 hours is very alarming.

regards.
