Hi all,

I have an issue with a high level switch in a vessel that activates periodically when we charge powder into the vessel.

It is a vibrating tuning fork design.

Is there any other model types that could be used that might be more suitable at not falsely activating when powder charging?

The vessel already has a radar probe installed and this high level is additional protection against overfill.

Hi ,

My experience with fork on powder is similar to yours . How big is your silo?

By chance can you install load cells or a second radar ? more expensive but works.

Note : Take a look at the link underneath , you may contact them for your application :

Good luck

Or maybe you could give the tuning fork a shade?

Thank Breizh / Thorium,

We operate with pressure pads to monitor/control the volume from a process perspective. The level switch is for protection against overfill.

I think we are going to attempt to install a spray-ball adjacent to the switch with the hope that this prevents a build-up of powder accumulating.

The shade idea may be a possible alternative if this proves unsucessful.

Thanks for the replies.

Or maybe, put some compressed air nozzles aimed at at the fork area to blow the dust off of it every now and then.

Hi ,

You might consider other technology more reliable these days , check with VEGA for their new generation of radar .
