D1769 seems to be getting more commonly used worldwide for testing of residue distillations. However whenever we have used this data in the past it seems to be of questionable use. Can anyone shed any light on the test procedure and why it gives strange results.
To clarify, the issue is that the data provided by this method tends to stop at around 700-750C at high LV%. This problems start when trying to use this data in Vacuum column simulations in that it simply does not provide a good match for vacuum residue yields, in fact on occasion the boiling curve is so light you can not get any vacuum residue at all.
Can anyone share their thoughts on this?
