Is there any need to install PVRV with flame arrestor on a diesel tank (flash point higher than 50 C) or just an open vent with screen is enough?
the system is vertical tank filled and emptied by a pump .

Hi ,

You should check with your local authorities ( safety bureau or Firefighting ) .

Goose neck + mesh should be enough .

For sure you need a dike to prevent spillage or leak .

I agree with Breizh, open vent with goose neck & screen is suffice do in my opinion for flash point > 50 degC, however local laws prevail.

 

As per API 2000 protection against flame transmission from outside the tank is required if flash point is less than 60 deg C or applicable regulations which ever is higher.

 

Further you need to confirm that storage temperature is lower than flash point.

Although the FP is higher than 50 C,you are required to specify if it's also higher than 60 C?; because the limitation for considering the normal vent without flame arresting device is the FP of higher than 60 C.
