For one of the product Transformers oil moisture content is to be reduced from 80 PPM to 10 ppm for 100 MT.As nitrogen is avl.in excess it planned to bubble into tank. However the Storage tank has out breathing PCV at 290 Nm3/hr & it's design pris 200 mmWC.Nitrogen is avl at 7.8 bar.How can I introduce N2 safely & at what rate.

Hi,

More information about your process and tank are needed. Batch size, Standard API,

A sketch is also requested.

Do you believe N2 will be able to strip off water? how do you extract the water and the nitrogen, should be continuous!

A google search will tell you that your option is not suitable.

  • Vacuum Dehydration/De-aeration: This involves heating the oil and passing it through a vacuum chamber, lowering the water boiling point to vaporize moisture. It is highly effective for removing both free and dissolved water.
  • Molecular sieve is also an option.

Thanks .Pilot test was carried out by introducing Nitrogen in to tank and has proven to remove moisture from the Transformer oil in the storage tank.

Standard API-620 Nitrogen in & out breathers are set at 70 & 115 MMWC

If you are happy with your process, i will encourage you to use a separate Gas liquid contactor (column with packing) for a better transfer. recirculation loop to the storage tank.

Don't mess up your storage tank not designed for this application, in particular the non-even distribution of gas.

I cannot offer more.
