Hi everyone,
Could you please explain why a particle size distribution obtained from screening is different as compared to if you measure particle size according to their sedimentation rate in a fluid?
Thanks a lot

Particles tend to stick together on the way down while settling. Along the way down, smaller particles get grabbed on in larger particles wake and affects their sedimentation rate.
Particles can also get chopped up or pushed together due to the screening process itself.
Unless you have very discrete particles like sand and in non sticking fluids that the particle separates easily out from.
