I'm using HYSYS to evaluate an existing hairpin heat exchanger. The exchanger was in service in many years. I have the heat exchanger drawing (with limited info) for the heat exchanger geometry.  But so many variables I can not find in the drawings and I have to use HYSYS defaults. What HYSYS output values I need to look for to decide if I entered correct geometry and the heat exchanger is adequate for the new flow rate and temperature requirements? Thank you for helping me in advance.

Please reread your post. Do you think anyone can help you with only the information given?

Suggestion. Please share.
- State inlet & outlet condition, fluid properties.
- Do some hand calculation
- Share the hand-sketched drawing if you have the proper permission.
- Look at the HTFS manual. (require access)

Good luck

Ask Mechanical/Inspection department to measure the dimensions and internal details.

Then use the same for rating of the exchanger

Hi,

To make you familiar with this type of technology and support your work( calculation) you can use the link and the document attached .

https://cheguide.com/double_pipe.html

a spreadsheet is available ( bottom of the document above) .

this should help you prior to use HYSYS

Good luck
