Hi,

When packing height of column is specified as equivalent to 1.5 theoretical stages then how many number of stages to be specified while simulating the column in HYSYS? I believe it has to be 2 nos. Correct me if I am wrong:-)

Regards,

Swapnil Hule

I would use one theoretical stage for a sim model in such situation to be conservative if that is all the packing you have in the column. There are entrance and exit efficiency effects in a packed bed that are not included in your equivalent packing height assessment. If you need more than one theoretical stage to make the separation, you should use more packing.
