A floating roof is used for light products to minimize evaporation losses. If that light fluid is moreover to be kept absolutely dry (methanol, ethanol, MTBE, et cetera) then an internal floating roof tank is used instead of an external floating roof tank so as to avoid any possibility of contamination by rain water.
