I was looking through the forum and found that you could update prices from one year to another by using the CEPCI of those years. I was wondering if there were a similar index factor that could be used to update operation costs from one year to another (from 2009 to 2019).

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Usually it is possible to track utility costs for quite some time in the past.

As for the materials and services (excl. working personnel), it is more difficult but the overall inflation is a good indicator. Of course, in reality it can get much more complicated than that, but for a reasonable estimate it should be accurate enough.

Hi,

Normally in a plant the Fnance manager together with the Operation manager are taking care of these figures , they set up a budget for the year to come ( fixed costs ,variable costs) and follow them on a monthly basis .

Except Raw materials and Utilities others are quite stable (Salary , Maintenance) .

my view
