I have joined Cheresources only today. I am a retired chemical engineer who after spending a lifetime in Project Management is trying a hand at Chemical Engineering. We use Methanol for making Formaldehyde. We follow the Silver Catalyst (Methanol Excess) process. In this process we make a solution of methanol and water of concentration ranging from 55 to 65%. This solution is fed to the Process through a control valve. I am trying to find the pressure drop across the Control valve at various flows and concentrations so that the correct trim with the required CV is selected overthe range of expected flows including plant turndown. So, the issues:

1. Methanol and water mixing is exothermic and I need to determine the temperature of the mixture at various concentrations. Where can I find information on the Heat of Mixing.

2. Then I need the viscosity and density of the mixture at that temperature. How to get this information. This is required to calculate the Reynold's number.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in anticipation.
