I am thinking about the selection of the vent cowl. Can I get information about rules and code standards related to vent cowl?

Any advice on what is the most important part of vent cowl design would be appreciated.

Hi,

Common sense is  telling  me that the opening area of the vent cowl should not be less than the the section of the nozzle where it is  attached to minimize the head loss  .

Sorry I can offer more . Let see comments from others .

I don't know of any rules or code standards for cowls. Cowls should keep most of the rain out and not allow birds or other animals entry. The only cowl problem I have witnessed was for a cryogenic vent where I saw ice routinely build up on the cowl screen partially blocking the vent before being blown away to form shotgun-like projectiles. The roof vent cowls on my house are off-the-shelf supplier stock. Perhaps your application would allow a similar choice from a supplier's catalog.
