Dear all,

Does anybody know how to calculate water flow rate and total pressure drop in an stack base liquid seal drum for flare system? My studies have resulted in considering a velocity of max 0.12 m/s for water flow through the loop seal (U-trap). But does the inlet flow rate depend on liquid holdup? Since we have two drums of different size, how this water flow should be calculated for the continuous flow implied in API 521?

And, is it correct to consider the positive DP  (pertaining to seal depth of 150-300 mm) as total pressure drop in seal drum?
