Does anyone have an idea about a Refinery currently/ still operating without a desalter unit?
Much interested to know about their operation and how are they tackle the overhead corrosion issues?
Many Thanks in advance for each response!
Hi,
In general, the crude oil receives by refining process plant is normally salt free despite of desalter unit included in refining installation or the crude oil has already been desalted somewhere else...
Thanks for your kind response.
In the unit where I work still has salts varies from 4 to 35 PTB (which is already settled and drained from the source and from the refinery tanks) and have no desalters. We are facing quite a lot of challenges with the overhead corrosion. Overhead sour water chlorides goes up to 1000 ppm (as NaCl)
That is why interested to know about any other refinery operating in similar set up to knew much about their operation
