Hello,

Currently for EDI unit regeneration, HCL acid from a vendor drum is transferred outside of the building to the CIP (clean in place) tank which is located inside a building though a temporary hose. Otherwise, the acid fume is too strong if transferred inside the building.

Is it a good idea to install permanent piping inside the building? Generally for Demin plants, is the HCL acid piping installed permanently inside a building and connected to the CIP tank? Will it reduce hazards overall?

Thank you in advance for any information.

Regards,

Leo

Hi ,

Not sure I understood the query but I will do a tentative :

To me fume of HCL should be collected and treated ( Scrubber) , check the regulation in your area . It not treated soon I will be a mess in the workshop , corrosion and risk of chemical burns due to condensation of the vapor.

Flexible hoses should be a temporary solution , whenever possible install hard pipe .

Note :CIP tank should be installed in a bund.

My 2 cents

Hi Breizh,

Thank you for the information. The scrubber will be installed on the tank to absorb the fume. We are considering adding the permanent piping.

Leo
