Dear Team,
I need your assistance in assessing whether a storage tank can handle a certain overpressure scenario.
Required details:
Service: Nitrogen
Line pressure- Pressure/ vacuum = 250/ -50 mmWCg (Set pressure is same)
PVRV flowrate- Pressure/ vacuum = 121/ 170 Nm3/hr
Type: weight loaded.
Installation: Top of the water tank (Designed for 300 mmWCg/ -100 mmWCg)
If due to some failure, a pressure of 1.2 kg/cm2g is exposed at the inlet of the breather valve (in the vapor space of the tank), can we say that since the pressure exceed the set pressure of PVRV, it'll release the excess pressure and safeguard the tank?
Point of concern: As per API 2000, the relieving capacity depends on the designated pressure and temperature, so I'm not sure whether given PVRV protect the tank in this case, as the pressure already exceeding the max. allowable pressure of the tank.
Kindly share your thoughts.
