How To Implement A Carbon Bed In My Simulation?

Hey all,


I am a master's student and for my thesis I have to optimalize a certain process in Aspen plus. The process is mainly focused on the conversion of CO2 to CO by the following reaction: 2CO2 => 2CO + O2. This has a conversion of about 15% in our reactor. To increase the conversion, we opted for a recycle loop, this increased the conversion of CO2 to 50%. However, to further increase the formation of CO, I had the idea to remove O2 from the gas mixture by introducing a carbon bed right after the first reactor. I came up with the following reactions:


1) C + O => CO

2) C + CO2 => 2CO

3) 2C + O2 => 2CO


My question is: how do I implement this in Aspen? Is there a unit operation specifically designed for this or do I have to implement some sequential steps in order to get the desired result?

If those 3 reactions occur in the carbon bed, you should probably look at modelling it as a reactor in Aspen+.

I think you need more research before you head down a dead-end path.
