If I have P1 at the inlet of pipe = 50 psig and P2 at end of pipe or destination based on pr. drop and flow is x for e.g.

Now if i put oriice plate in the pipe due to more delta P should not the flow increase to > x. ..since flow is propotional to delta P?

Why by putting orifice then  flow decrease???

Hi,

You increase the head loss on the line (more resistance)  thus you modify your system curve , going to the left  .
